you got to write letters to your childhood self.. addressing exactly that emotional trigger point you sit them down in a chair, you tell them mom and dad are no longer here.. and you tell them that you are the parent... and you tell them how loved they are and special - and then you describe the way you show them.. going as far as you feel makes sense.. throwing a party, revising the past, and letting the younger version of you is totally good and safe now that you are here for them. hand write

Profound. Thank you for the suggestion. This might actually be a good thing for me to try, because despite attempts, i couldn't resolve the hurt from those traumas when confronting my parents and family about it. They wouldn't take ownership even of those actions. When you say i should sit my childhood self on a chair and talk to her, should i be just writing letters of that, or taking moments per day to visualise it in meditation/before sleep? The saddest part of how those traumas hurt me was that till now, even as an adult, I struggle to believe when someone says they love me. I struggle to even visualise or imagine that emotional 'state' of having what i want, because i realised I don't really know how it feels for me to be loved by someone else. 🥺

yes, well, as you write, start at the top of the page and address yourself as you would if actually talking to the version of you right at the age the emotional point occurred so if you were 12 and you stubbed your toe for example you are talking to a person with the salt fresh on the cheeks and a red bandaged toe.. and you tell them - encouraging them, how brave they are, how tough that must be, but i am here now, i am taking care of you, i love you, and guess what!? you take the bandage off.. or however this applies... and the wound is healed, you see the surprise on the younger-you's face.. and you tell them you will be taking care of them from now on. you can and should take a lot of liberties in this exercise. you can sit in a park, or wherever you have always known safety - or a memory palace you customized (this is my method) and you just finish the letter to them, with all of this assumed in the atmosphere, that they do not have to look for anyone else to nurture them from the perspective of a guardian anymore, that you are going to be the one who knows exactly how you can reach yourself. go to that young version of you that was afraid of love and do the same thing
